Four of my personal art journals will be part of a group exhibit at Collage Gallery in Warwick, NY, opening January 6th, 2011 6PM-8PM.
These little pocket art journals are 4” x 3.5″ and can fit in my back pocket. They are hand sewn together with a variety of papers. Every book and every page is unique. They were created in mixed media. You are welcome to pick them up and flip through them.
Collage opened its doors in October of 2010 and is located in Warwick, NY. Warwick is in the lower Hudson Valley, around 50 miles outside New York City.
What makes Collage unique is the fact that it is teamed up with Every Artist Together (E.A.T) and donates 30% of its profits to hunger. For instance this month E.A.T. will be making a donation to the Back Pack Snack Attack program. The Back Pack Snack Attack program provides back packs filled with food for children in need. These are children in our community who are on free or reduced fare meal plans through the school district and who very often don’t have enough to eat over the weekends when they are not in school. On Friday afternoon they receive a backpack to get them through the weekend, which they return on Monday morning.
Heide Moeller is proprietor and Artist Lisa Cullen is the Gallery Director. Both have a genuine enthusiasm and love of the work. Lisa Cullen stated” I WANT to connect people with art. When an artist pays a hanging fee they are making a contribution, to E.A.T., to the community and to the advancement of culture in Warwick.”
The gallery offers some fantastic paintings, photos, jewelry and more by its diverse local artists. Enjoy!
Collage is open Friday 4-8, Saturday 12-8, and Sunday 12-4, or by appointment. Collage is located at 24 Railroad Avenue. This exhibit will continue through the month of January.
