Drawing with Pencil

I love gesture drawing. The drawing that happens in the 5 minute pose can hold the universe, so can a one minute. It can contain so much information with so little. I’m always asking myself what makes a good drawing. Sometimes it is combining the elements of various marks-cross contours, contour, scribblers, movement/ weight lines and angled space finders that create an envelope for the form. What ever will best describe the mood, light, gesture, weight and character of the model in relationship to artist, surface and the mark making tool. I try to be open to what the moment and the material have to offer.
